Police investigating suspicious death of woman in central Edmonton

A woman was found with life-threatening injuries in the area of 102nd Street and 110th Avenue around 11 a.m. on Friday. Police say a suspect fled the scene, and the woman died later in hospital.

Edmonton police are investigating a suspicious death that happened north of the downtown area on Friday.

Around 11 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault near 102nd Street and 110th Avenue.

In a news release, EPS said officers located a woman with life-threatening injuries. She was treated and taken to hospital, where she later died.

A second woman with non-life-threatening injuries was also found, and an unknown suspect fled the scene, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
