A man has died following a collision involving an e-bike and a bus in St. Catharines, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) said.

Police responded to the collision at the intersection of King Street and Carlisle Street at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Initial reports are that a male operating an e-bike collided with a transit bus, police said in a news release on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the e-bike had struck the side of the bus. The rider of the e-bike, a 55-year-old man from St. Catharines, was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the bus, police said.

According to police, preliminary findings of their investigation suggest that the e-bike operator proceeded through the intersection against a red light.

Investigators say anyone with information about this crash should contact NRPS.
