An Ottawa-area man was killed in a crash Friday, the latest death in what's been a treacherous week for motorcyclists on eastern Ontario's roads.

Provincial police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 7, roughly halfway between Kaladar and Sharbot Lake, at around 9 a.m.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 71-year-old man, was taken to hospital but died of his injuries, OPP said.

The highway was closed for several hours between Arden and Mountain Grove roads but has since reopened.

Friday's crash came one day after a man in his 40s was killed near Stittsville when his motorcycle collided with an SUV.

OPP also said on Friday that a 23-year-old motorcyclist who was found injured in a ditch east of Cornwall last weekend had succumbed to his injuries.
