A London man has been arrested following an alleged sexual assault in the city's east end, last week.

London police say the alleged assault happened last Friday between 4 and 5 a.m., when a woman walking on Dundas Street east of Adelaide Street was approached by a man in a vehicle, who engaged her in conversation.

The woman entered the vehicle, police say, before the man drove to a parking lot nearby and sexually assaulted the woman, stealing her clothing and personal belongings before fleeing.

Police say the victim, who was later transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was found by a bystander before 911 was called.

Officers have arrested and charged a 27-year-old London man with sexual assault, and theft under $5000.

London Police Service officials are reminding residents to report suspicious activity to police, and asking anyone with information on this specific incident to contact them.
