Boy, 15, dies after dirt bike collides with deer in western Manitoba

A teen boy died after the dirt bike he was riding collided with a deer just north of Dauphin, Man., on the weekend.

A teen boy died after the dirt bike he was riding collided with a deer just north of Dauphin, Man., on the weekend.

RCMP were called just before 10 p.m. Saturday to Road 114 W., southeast of the small community of Valley River.

Officers found the dirt bike lying on the road with a 15-year-old boy nearby in medical distress, police said in a news release on Monday.

Paramedics rushed the boy to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the boy was riding on the road when the crash occurred. He was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the machine.
