Person charged for allegedly selling drugs out of Whatı̀, N.W.T., crawlspace, with homeowner unaware

RCMP in Whatı̀, N.W.T., have arrested and charged one person for allegedly selling drugs out of a crawlspace in a house without the homeowner's knowledge. 

In a news release Wednesday, police say the 19-year-old suspect from Yellowknife has been charged with "being unlawfully in a dwelling," and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. 

Police seized 140 grams of crack cocaine and about $7,000 in cash.

The release says the homeowner was "unaware of the person hiding in the crawlspace." 

RCMP said the arrest was possible thanks to tips from the public about the alleged operation. The accused has been remanded into custody.
