Cornwall man, 22, dies after hit-and-run

Cornwall police say they responded to a call around 3 a.m. on McConnell Avenue where they found the victim after he was hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver fled the area in his vehicle.

A 22-year-old man in Cornwall is dead following a hit-and-run early Thursday morning with an alleged drunk driver.

In a press release, Cornwall police said they responded to a call around 3 a.m. in the area of McConnell Avenue between Fourth and Sixth streets.

There, they found a man who'd been hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver had driven away, police said.

A couple of hours later, police located and arrested the alleged driver, a 23-year-old man, and charged him with impaired driving, driving causing death, and failure to stop at the scene.

The driver was held for a bail hearing, according to CPS.
