Chatham-Kent police say a woman has died after a collision Sunday near Ridgetown, Ont.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a serious two-vehicle collision just after 3 p.m. ET at the intersection of Kenesserie Road and Gosnell Line, the force said in a news release Monday.

The 64-year-old driver of one vehicle and her three younger passengers were all taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, an 80-year-old woman from Newbury, sustained life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to a hospital in Newbury where she later died.

The area was closed for several hours so the traffic management unit could conduct an investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
