2 young males die in separate crashes in Prince Edward Island
16-year-old boy and 19-year-old man die in separate collisions, hours apart

Two young males have died in separate vehicle crashes in western and central Prince Edward Island.
On Thursday evening, a 16-year-old boy from Summerside died as a result of a single all-terrain vehicle crash in western P.E.I.
RCMP Const. Kevin MacKay said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. when a side-by-side ATV with two people on board crashed on Route 14 in the Roseville area of western Prince County.
West Prince RCMP responded along with Island EMS and the Miminegash Fire Department.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Summerside, was taken to Prince County Hospital with serious injuries. MacKay said she remains in stable condition.
"Safety on off-road vehicles is front of mind, and we want to remind everyone to seek out the appropriate training, protective equipment when you're going to be travelling on an off-road vehicle," MacKay said.
Another fatal crash hours later
Early Friday morning, a 19-year-old man from Cumberland, P.E.I., died in a single-vehicle crash in Hampshire.

MacKay said a crash detection alert from a cell phone to 911 at about 3:30 a.m. alerted Queens District RCMP about the incident, which involved a sedan carrying two people.
The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while a 16-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries.
"The 16-year-old was identified as [the] driver, and then the 19-year-old was identified as a passenger in the vehicle," MacKay said.
Island EMS and the North River Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Route 225 was closed for several hours as provincial highways and emergency personnel redirected traffic.
In both incidents, the P.E.I. coroner's office was called to the scene, and RCMP collision analysts are conducting separate ongoing investigations.
