37-year-old Island man arrested, weapons seized after alleged gun-pointing incident
Police also found 7 long guns, ammunition and body armour at a Charlottetown home

The RCMP on P.E.I. say they arrested a 37-year-old Island man after they were called to the scene of an alleged gun-pointing incident in the Clinton area at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 13.
A new release issued Monday said officers found the suspect not long after the report came in, and arrested him without incident as he was sitting in a vehicle. A long gun and ammunition were seized at that point, police said.
The new provincial joint enforcement team (JET) followed up by executing a search warrant at a Charlottetown residence, seizing another six long guns along with body armour and ammunition, according to the news release.
"This event was a high-risk incident that was mitigated through a quick response by officers who are trained for high-risk takedown situations like this one. I'm grateful this incident was resolved safely, without the police or public being harmed," Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, the commanding officer for the P.E.I. RCMP, was quoted as saying.

"The provincial JET assistance was also valuable in the seizure of firearms and body armour, further highlighting the effectiveness of joint police resources working together to remove firearms from those with ill intent," Lewis said.
The news release said the accused man was taken to hospital after he was arrested, though it did not say why.
