Pedestrian killed in Mississauga after vehicle careens into him after collision
2nd pedestrian critically injured, 7 more to hospital after devastating crash near Square One

A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Saturday, Peel police said.
Seven other people were also injured in the devastating crash at the major intersection near the Square One shopping centre.
The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. near Burnhamthorpe Road W. and Kariya Drive, police said.
Two vehicles were involved in an initial collision, Const. Michelle Stafford told reporters on Saturday. One of the vehicles then "slid into" two pedestrians who were standing at the south east corner of the intersection, she said.
A male pedestrian in his 40s was pronounced dead on scene, Peel paramedics said. Another pedestrian in her 20s was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Stafford said she doesn't know whether the pedestrians knew each other.
Both drivers remained on scene, she said.
One vehicle was carrying four people and the other had three, Stafford said. But she said she does not know which of the two vehicles hit the pedestrians.
In total, six people who were in the vehicles were taken to hospital, she said. All sustained minor injuries.
Police are investigating what caused the initial collision, Stafford said. Burnhamthorpe Road W. and Kariya Drive is currently closed for the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
