Woman, 94, dead after being struck by pickup truck in west end

A 94-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a pickup truck in Toronto's west end Friday afternoon, police say.

A 94-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a pickup truck in Toronto's west end Friday afternoon, police say.

The fatal collision happened in the intersection of King Street W. and Massey Street. Emergency personnel were called to the area shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Duty Insp. Steve Campoli of the Toronto Police Service told reporters that the woman was taken to a local trauma hospital with critical injuries and was pronounced dead there a short time later.

The pickup truck driver remained on the scene and is co-operating with police, Campoli said.

Campoli said the collision is still under investigation and no charges have been laid. He asked any witnesses or anyone with video surveillance or dashboard camera footage to come forward to police.
