One man in custody after armed standoff in Windsor, police say

Windsor police say they've taken a man into custody after an armed standoff Monday night in the 400 block of Rankin Avenue.
Police responded to a report of an assault shortly after 10 p.m., according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Windsor Police Service.
One person escaped a residence where they had been assaulted, threatened, and forcibly confined by a male suspect, police said.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
When officers arrived, a suspect had barricaded himself inside the residence and was armed with an axe and knives, police said.
After approximately one hour of communication between police and the suspect, police say he surrendered without further incident.
A 36-year-old man faces the following charges:
- Forcible confinement.
- Assault.
- Assault with choking.
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
