RCMP say they have charged a Yellowknife man with numerous charges after an incident involving firearms Friday.

In a news release Tuesday, Yellowknife RCMP said they charged a 28-year-old man with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault while choking and uttering threats, and other charges.

Police said they got a report Friday afternoon that someone had tried to run another person over with a vehicle, assaulted them and forcibly confined them. The person then threatened to shoot the victim and other people.

Yellowknife RCMP's emergency response team and police dogs responded to a home on Kingfisher Way and arrested a suspect.

Police say they later seized four rifles and ammunition from the home.

The man appeared before a Justice of the Peace and remains in custody.
