After a summer of outdoor adventures, CBC's Do Crew project is heading into the air conditioned offices of Prostate Cancer Canada Atlantic Region in Halifax.

Prostate Cancer Canada is the national foundation dedicated to the elimination of the disease through education, research and support.

The Atlantic branch is the charitable partner at the annual Halifax Seaport Beerfest, which takes place Aug. 5 and 6.

Volunteers sell pretzel necklaces to folks sampling beers at the festival. The necklaces always sell out, and it's an important part of the organization's fundraising efforts.

Those sales bring in more than $4,000 a year. This year, they hope to raise $5,000.

The Do Crew will be helping out by sitting down to make as many pretzel necklaces as possible.

If you are interested in being part of this month's Do Crew, here is what you need to know.

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WHO: 20 volunteers.
WHAT: Assembling pretzel necklaces (it's a sit-down job).
WHERE: Prostate Cancer Canada's Atlantic Regional Office in Halifax on Barrington Street.

What is the CBC Do Crew?

The CBC Nova Scotia Do Crew is a monthly initiative spearheaded by Louise Renault of Daybreak Maritimes and Halifax's Information Morning celebrating the spirit of volunteerism and community in the Halifax region.

For a few hours every month, alongside Louise, the Do Crew — consisting of CBC listeners, viewers and readers — lends a hand at an event or fundraiser for a local organization.

To volunteer or to get more information, email Louise.
