CBC Do Crew will help cook at Veith House
Volunteers will prepare soup and bake banana bread
This month, an eight-member Do Crew will go to Veith House in Halifax's north end to chop vegetables, make soup, and also make banana bread for the weekly coffee hour sessions there.
All the volunteer positions for this Do Crew have been filled, and the eight member volunteer team will head to Veith house on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Veith House is a community hub that serves families in need in north-end Halifax.
The group holds a coffee hour three days a week that is regularly attended by community members. There are also affordable yoga classes offered, and a CAP site computer.
Veith House also has a lovely, comfy room where court-ordered supervised parents can meet with their children. They also offer trustee services for folks who need it.
History of Veith House
Several organizations rent office space there; Maureen Macdonald had her constituency office at Veith House for many years.
There is also a daycare that operates on the second floor and a memorial room for former residents of the orphanage, where there are photographs and other historical items.
Veith House was built in 1924 after the Protestant Orphanage was destroyed in the Halifax Explosion in 1917. It operated as an Orphanage until 1969, when it became a community centre/hub.
What is the CBC Do Crew?
The CBC Nova Scotia Do Crew is a monthly initiative spearheaded by Louise Renault of Daybreak Maritimes and Halifax's Information Morning celebrating the spirit of volunteerism and community in the Halifax region.
For a few hours every month, alongside Louise, the Do Crew — consisting of CBC listeners, viewers and readers — lends a hand at an event or fundraiser for a local organization.
If you are interested in being part of future Do Crew activities please email Louise at docrewns@cbc.ca.
So far this year, CBC Nova Scotia's Do Crew has donated 411 hours of volunteer work at various organizations.
