2 men charged with 1st-degree murder in Regina homicide

Keli Stonechild and Dontay Bellegarde are charged with first-degree murder.

Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide, the city's third this year, that occurred in the early morning hours of April 24.  

Regina police and EMS personnel responded to a call to the 800 block of Victoria Avenue where they found an injured man who later died. 

Police have said the victim's name will not be released at the request of the family.

Police have charged Keli Stonechild, 33, and Dontay Bellegarde, 23, with first-degree murder. Bellegarde has also been charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

Stonechild made his first appearance at Regina provincial court on Monday morning. Bellegarde is scheduled to appear on Tuesday.
