31-year-old charged with 1st-degree murder for 2023 death in Saskatoon

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at Saskatoon Provincial Court at 9 a.m. CST on Thursday.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a 2023 death in Saskatoon.

Saskatoon police were called to an alley on the 2700 block of 21st Street W. at around 1:30 a.m. CST. on Dec. 14.

Officers found a man who had been shot.

The 33-year-old was transported to hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police did not release his name.

It was the 11th homicide of the year in Saskatoon.

Police say investigators have been chasing leads ever since.

On Wednesday, the Saskatoon Police Service's guns and gangs unit, along with Saskatchewan RCMP's warrant enforcement and suppression team, found and arrested a 31-year-old man from Saskatoon.

He's now been charged with first-degree murder and is scheduled to make his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday at 9 a.m. CST.
