A motorist is dead after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Mississauga Friday afternoon, provincial police say.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital following the collision, where they later died, the OPP said in a post on X Friday. Further details about the deceased and the collision were not immediately available.

Westbound express lanes on the highway were briefly closed to traffic Friday afternoon, but reopened just before 3 p.m., police said.
