Liberals set date for Summerside-Wilmot convention

The Liberal Party of Prince Edward Island will select their candidate for the Summerside-Wilmot byelection on Sept. 14.

3 candidates campaigning for Liberal nomination

The Liberal Party of Prince Edward Island will select their candidate for the Summerside-Wilmot byelection on Sept. 14.

The byelection, for which no date has yet been set, became necessary when Liberal MLA Janice Sherry retired from politics on Aug. 1.

Three candidates have expressed interest so far for the Liberals. Nancy Beth Guptill and Chris Palmer have been campaigning for about two weeks.

Brian McFeely, a Summerside city councillor, announced Thursday morning he would be seeking the nomination.

The Liberal convention will be held at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht club.

Four candidates have expressed interest for the Progressive Conservatives. The party will hold its convention Sept. 12.

The Green Party has chosen deputy leader Lynne Lund as its candidate.

The NDP has not yet announced a candidate.
