Electric scooter rider dies after crash on Prince Edward Viaduct

An electric scooter rider has died after a single vehicle crash on the Prince Edward Viaduct on Thursday night, Toronto police say.

An electric scooter rider has died after a single vehicle crash on the Prince Edward Viaduct on Thursday night, Toronto police say.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. eastbound on the bridge, police said in a news release on Friday. 

The rider, a man in his 50s, lost control of the scooter and sustained serious injuries, the release said. 

He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have security or dash camera footage is asked to contact Toronto police. 

All roads in the area are open after closures on Thursday night.
